Situation
Our assignment was to search for a new CTO to replace the present one who had been offered the position of CEO in connection with a generation transition.
The company has production and sales companies around the world and is a major player in the medical device industry, specializing in the design, development and manufacture of customized products.
The Board was looking for a CTO with international experience, considerable leadership skills and preferably experience from the technology industry. In addition the target was a business-oriented profile with strong focus on projects, finance and results, probably from a manufacturing company marketing customized projects.
Search
We focused our research on candidates with a Masters degree in Engineering as well as a commercial degree such as an MBA. We were looking for people who could document an impressive track record, who would be able to ensure strong strategic management of product development, and with interest and ability to work with development processes and investment projects involving a very considerable financial responsibility.
Results
We presented a strong selection of international candidates with the required profile. These were highly involved and energetic people who were motivated by exciting and challenging assignments. The candidates had previously achieved success with similar assignments in various positions, all involving international relations and carrying responsibility for operations around the world.
